Anthropic has begun asking Claude users for permission to use their voice conversations to improve its AI models. The Claude voice training prompt offers a choice over sharing audio recordings and voice chat data.
The request appears when people use Claude’s voice features. Users can select Allow to participate or Not now to decline the request.
According to the prompt, the recordings would help Anthropic improve how its models understand speech and respond to spoken requests. However, the interface shown so far indicates that sharing remains optional.
Voice Sharing Has Its Own Privacy Control
The Claude voice training setting operates separately from Anthropic’s existing training preference for text chats and coding sessions.
As a result, users can make different choices for each type of interaction. They could agree to share voice conversations while excluding regular chats and Claude Code sessions from training. Alternatively, they could permit training on those sessions while keeping voice data excluded.
This separation gives users more control over which conversations they contribute to model development.
The Observed Setting Is Off by Default
Users can find the dedicated voice-data control under Settings > Privacy. Its description explains that Anthropic can use audio recordings and voice chat data from approved sessions to improve its models.
In the interface observed so far, the toggle starts in the off position. That suggests users must actively agree before contributing their voice recordings through this option.
However, the observed interface alone does not establish whether every account currently has access to the feature.
Users Can Change Their Choice Later
Anthropic says users can switch off voice-data sharing through settings if they change their minds. The prompt also states that they can delete their voice data there.
Therefore, agreeing to the request does not prevent users from revisiting their preference later. People who want to review their participation can check the dedicated voice option alongside their other privacy controls.
