OpenAI may be preparing a ChatGPT Pro Max subscription priced at $500 per month. The unannounced plan has appeared in ChatGPT’s subscription interface, but OpenAI has not confirmed its launch date or final features.

Subscription Preview Lists Faster Work and Codex

TestingCatalog spotted the proposed plan alongside ChatGPT’s existing subscription options. One version of the interface shows a $500 monthly price. Another shows $600 after local taxes or VAT.

The preview highlights “Fastest Work and Codex” as a benefit. It also lists access to frontier models, maximum memory, 100 GB of file storage and early access to new features.

However, the interface does not explain how much faster Work or Codex would run. OpenAI has also not disclosed the plan’s usage limits. Existing Pro subscribers already receive early access to some features, so the difference between the tiers remains unclear.

Cerebras Could Play a Role in Faster Responses

OpenAI’s partnership with Cerebras offers one possible explanation for the speed claim. The companies have used Cerebras hardware to deliver faster AI output, including a Codex-Spark experience that exceeds 1,000 tokens per second.

Still, neither company has said that Cerebras would power ChatGPT Pro Max. The wording in the subscription preview does not confirm which models or hardware the plan would use.

OpenAI Has Yet to Announce the Plan

ChatGPT currently offers Pro tiers at $100 and $200 per month. Since September 10, OpenAI has temporarily paused new subscriptions and upgrades to the $200 tier. Existing subscribers keep their access, and the $100 tier remains available.

The appearance of a $500 option suggests OpenAI is considering a higher-priced tier for heavy users. For now, its price, availability and benefits could change before any official announcement.
