A Claude outage is causing elevated errors for users sending requests to several Anthropic AI models. The company confirmed the incident on September 3 and said it had identified the cause.
The disruption began at about 9:41 AM ET. Anthropic is working on a fix, but the issue remained ongoing in its latest update.
Multiple Claude models affected
Anthropic initially reported elevated errors affecting Claude Mythos 5.1, Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Opus 5.
It later expanded the list of affected services. The Claude outage also affects Mythos 5, Fable 5, Opus 4.8 and Opus 4.6.
Users of these models may see requests fail, stop before completion or return error messages. The issue affects model requests rather than a single Claude feature.
Anthropic identifies the cause
Anthropic said it had identified the cause of the elevated errors shortly after reporting the incident. However, it did not disclose technical details about the underlying problem.
The company then said its engineers were working to restore normal service. In an update published at 10:49 AM ET, Anthropic confirmed that remediation work was still underway.
Claude outage remains unresolved
The Claude outage had not been fully resolved when Anthropic issued its latest status update. Users relying on Mythos, Fable or Opus models may therefore continue to experience intermittent failures.
Anthropic has not provided a timeline for a complete fix. Further updates are expected as the company works to restore reliable access across the affected models.
