Anthropic is testing a personal finance feature that could give Claude access to users’ bank account data. Called Claude Money, the tool aims to help people understand their spending, financial plans and other money matters.

Claude Money Appears in the iOS App

TestingCatalog spotted the new feature inside the Claude app for iOS. A Money section appeared alongside existing areas such as Chats, Code, Artifacts, Dispatch and Cowork.

The page invites users to link their bank accounts and ask Claude questions about their finances. It also includes a “Get started” button for connecting an account.

However, Anthropic has not widely released the feature. References to Claude Money appeared inside the app before an expected official announcement. Therefore, few details are currently available.

Anthropic has not revealed which banks or financial institutions the service will support. The company also has not explained how users will connect their accounts.

Furthermore, it remains unclear whether Claude Money will launch outside the United States. Anthropic may initially restrict access to specific regions or user groups while it tests the service.

Claude Could Examine Spending and Financial Plans

The available description suggests that Claude Money will analyse financial information and answer questions about it. For example, users may be able to review spending patterns or discuss future plans with the AI assistant.

However, the early interface does not reveal the feature’s full range of capabilities. Anthropic has yet to explain whether Claude could track bills, identify subscriptions or calculate savings.

The company also has not detailed how it will protect connected financial information. Consequently, questions remain about data storage, account permissions and privacy safeguards.

These issues could play an important role in whether consumers trust an AI assistant with sensitive banking data.

Claude Money Resembles ChatGPT Finances

Anthropic’s experiment resembles the Finances feature available in ChatGPT. OpenAI’s service lets users connect bank accounts, credit cards, brokerages and other financial accounts through Plaid.

ChatGPT can then use the connected data to answer questions about bills, subscriptions and spending. It can also analyse savings, investments and net worth.

OpenAI says it does not use personal financial data to train its AI models. Its service currently supports more than 12,000 financial institutions across the United States.

Anthropic may adopt a similar model for Claude Money. However, the company has not confirmed whether it will use Plaid or another account-connection provider.

European Availability Remains Uncertain

Claude Money may face additional regulatory and privacy requirements if Anthropic brings it to Europe. Financial account data ranks among the most sensitive categories of personal information.

As a result, Anthropic may begin with a limited US rollout before considering other markets. It could also restrict the test while the company evaluates security, privacy and regulatory concerns.

For now, Claude Money remains an unreleased feature with limited public information. Anthropic has not announced a launch date, supported institutions or regional availability.
