A security researcher claims he accessed a tech company’s email account after the company failed to respond to vulnerability reports for about two months.
The researcher, known as Zachi, said he discovered flaws in an undisclosed app developed by Betterapp Tech. He later claimed he contacted the company from one of its own email addresses to draw attention to the issue.
Researcher says disclosure emails went unanswered
Zachi said he initially contacted Betterapp Tech, which develops productivity and utility apps, to report the alleged vulnerabilities.
The company operates under the betterapplab and betterapptech domains. According to the researcher, he found the exploit around two months before his post gained wider attention.
He later shared what appeared to be a follow-up message sent to the company’s support address. The message warned that the app contained multiple security weaknesses.
Ethical hacker email access claim
After receiving no response, Zachi said he sent another message from the company’s own email account.
The researcher did not publicly explain how he obtained the alleged access. Therefore, the ethical hacker email access claim has not been independently confirmed.
Cybernews contacted Zachi for comment. At the time of publication, the exact method used to access or impersonate the company email address remained unclear.
Several explanations remain possible
Security researchers said several scenarios could explain the incident. An exposed system or access to a known administrative account could potentially provide access to an internal email account.
Alternatively, an email configuration problem could allow someone to impersonate the company’s email address without directly accessing its systems.
Without further technical evidence from Zachi or Betterapp Tech, the cause of the alleged access remains unknown. The incident highlights why companies should maintain clear vulnerability disclosure channels and respond promptly to security reports.
